Victoria House: The Best Boutique Hotel in Belize

Belize may be best known for its Mayan ruins, adventurous jungle escapes, and vibrant marine life, but if you’re looking to punctuate your time in the water with a little land-based luxury, Victoria House on Ambergris Caye is the place to do it.

This palm-shaded paradise is an easy place to unwind, a place where you can watch turquoise water lap at the coast from a hammock, catching those saline sea breezes: all this awaits you at Victoria House, San Pedro’s most beautiful boutique hotel.

Planning your San Pedro trip at the last minute? Here are my quick picks for what to do & where to stay!

🏝️ Top Things to Do in Ambergris Caye:
Snorkeling tour of Hol Chan’s classics (Shark Ray Alley, manatee spot, marine reserve) or Mexico Rocks & Tres Cocos (more off-the-beaten-path, fewer boats)
Belizean food cooking class (bring your favorite flavors back home with you!)
2-Tank Dive in Hol Chan Marine Reserve (get even closer to Belize’s marine landscapes)

🏨 Best Places to Stay in San Pedro:
Victoria House — boutique luxury by the Caribbean Sea (where I stayed!)
Mahogany Bay Resort — resort-style comfort with great amenities
Ramon’s Village Resort — island-style bungalows in the heart of the action

✈️ Flying in? Book a quick flight from Belize City to San Pedro, or take the scenic water taxi. Once there, you can rent a golf cart or grab a taxi straight to Victoria House — it’s a short drive away from the airport or water taxi terminal.

Grounds & Amenities

Our luxury boutique hotel experience in Belize Ambergris Caye

With an infinity-adjacent pool that looks out over the Caribbean Sea to its ever-so-slightly manicured grounds shaded by palm trees, Victoria House is a peaceful oasis in San Pedro.

I loved whiling away the time in relaxing on one of the loungers in the pool, sipping on a cold Belikin (Belize’s beer of choice… and mine!) while gazing out at the sea view — honestly, I could have done it all day. And maybe I did, one day.

The hotel also offers a private beach of sorts, with hammocks and loungers spread between the palms overlooking the ocean.

While the islands of Belize aren’t particularly known for their sandy beaches, Victoria House has cleverly crafted its own.

That said, Victoria House has created something out of nothing, with a sandy “beach” giving way to a seawall.

And of course, I had to test out all the hammocks at Victoria House. For research.

I’d never let you down.

Rooms & Interiors

Luxury hotel in Belize master suite

When I wasn’t scaling palm trees channeling my inner Mowgli from The Jungle Book (my favorite movie until I was like 9), lounging poolside, or methodically researching hammock comfort…

I was enjoying the luxury of our Infinity Suite, a two-story apartment complete with pool views and a fully functioning kitchen.

Yes, a full kitchen in our boutique suite! My inner New Yorker died a thousand deaths when I saw this kitchen and realized I wouldn’t be making use of it.

In addition to the full kitchen and our not-so-mini fridge, we had not one or two but four separate outdoor areas.

Including an outdoor shower, because apparently this is the way you can live your life. Who knew?

Here’s a little pro tip from experience: because Victoria House faces east, you’ll want to rouse yourself from your insanely comfortable bed juuuust long enough to catch at least one of the epic sunrises over the Caribbean.

I promise it’s worth it.

And yes, you can go back to bed right after. I sure did.

Nothing beats the peace of watching the sunrise from a private beach or infinity pool at your luxury boutique hotel!

Room Types & Availability

Victoria house is a lovely boutique hotel in Belize

Victoria House offers a wide range of boutique hotel accommodations spread across its 42 rooms.

If you really want to ball out, there are luxury suites like the one my friend and I enjoyed, and even some larger choices like their beachfront villa with its own private pool, able to host up to 10 guests. Talk about an epic destination for a wedding or bachelorette party!

There are also much more affordable options, like staterooms which start at around $200/night (before tax) to the cute little casitas starting at around $325/night (a steal for what you get!)… so there are also plenty of options that offer boutique Belize luxury on a more forgiving budget.

What to Do in San Pedro

If you tire of lounging by the pool I don’t understand you don’t fret, there’s plenty to do in and near Ambergris Caye!

I’ve written a full guide to all that awaits you in San Pedro here, but the highlights? Snorkeling, diving, a restaurant scene, a chocolate factory, food tours, cooking tours… the world is yours.

You can also rent complimentary bicycles to ride into town or borrow a kayak to take for a paddle out on the beautiful Caribbean waters…. there are really endless choices!

Is Victoria House Worth It?

In a word: absolutely.

I loved every minute of my stay at this stunning seaside boutique hotel. Victoria House’s grounds are so spacious that even when there are other people there you somehow feel as if you have the whole place to yourself.

During the day, most of the guests are off diving or on all-day excursions, so even in the high season I was often the only one in the pool!

Honestly, the only time Victoria House feels properly busy is in the evenings, when everyone comes home from the tours and dines in the excellent Palmilla Restaurant on site.

If you’re looking for a taste of luxury on your Belize island getaway, I can’t recommend it more highly.

I’ve stayed at other upscale resorts in San Pedro since this visit, and nothing else even holds a candle to what Victoria House offers.

  1. This is such a lovely looking hotel!! That kitchen in the suite is nicer than anything I’ve had in my apartments haha. I looooooove San Pedro but I usually have stayed in hostels close to the town center. This looks much more quiet and relaxing!

    1. I know! It’s nicer than even my parents’ kitchens back home! I stayed at a hostel in San Pedro the first time I went there two years ago (Sandbar) and while it was a really good hostel, there’s noooo way it comes close to this! Hope you get a chance to stay next time you’re in San Pedro! x
