Best Romantic Things to Do & Romantic Places in Dubai

Hot Air Balloon Ride: Go for a date in the sky

hot air balloon rising over the dubai desert with sand dunes and small trees

Are you in search of an unforgettable experience when you’re planning a special date with your significant other?

There’s nothing more unforgettable than a hot air balloon ride — especially over the Dubai desert!

Balloon Adventures Emirates provide unforgettable hot air balloon flights over the deserts, oases, and mountains.

It’s about an hour’s drive into the desert to get to the actual place, and going with an organized tour, you’ll arrive before sunrise — typically leaving Dubai around 4:30 AM.

Yes, it’s early, but the sunrise views over the desert are absolutely worth the early wake up call! Plus, this way you avoid the worst of the desert heat while enjoying a bird’s eye view over the desert at sunrise.

Before the hot air balloon ride, you will be offered traditional Arabic coffee and breakfast nibbles.

Just when the sun is rising, the balloon will take off. The stunning views of the desert from the air is a whole new perspective!

Taking in the sunrise from above the sand dunes, beautifully aglow from the rising sun, with your loved one by your side is just about as romantic as it gets!

Hot air balloon rides are typically for about an hour — but the fun doesn’t have to end there.

You can either book just a hot air balloon experience (with transfer and breakfast), or you can do a hot air balloon followed by the full-on desert safari experience, including a camel ride, dune bashing, quad biking, and visiting a traditional Bedouin camp for breakfast.

Book your sunrise hot air balloon experience, or also add on desert safari fun!

Night Desert Safari: An overnight date in the desert

woman walking in the dubai desert facing away from the camera

Spending a night in the desert with your significant other while watching the stars is as romantic as it gets. This is a romantic date you will never get over, ever!

OceanAir Travels provides the whole overnight desert getaway package, from pickup and drop-off and everything in between!

You can choose your adventure, from going dune bashing, sandboarding, taking a camel ride, going horse riding, enjoying shisha, watching traditional belly dancing, enjoying a BBQ dinner, getting henna painted, and more!

You will arrive at your campsite, surrounded by palm trees and decked with comfy carpets and cushions for you to relax.

After whatever adrenaline-pumping adventure activities you choose, you can enjoy a diversity of shows like the fire show where performers show their skills!

And if you’re a food lover like me, many varieties of dishes are also available at the campsite that you can choose from.

Plus, spending time under the stars as they sparkle overhead in the beautiful Dubai desert is a sight you and your loved one will never forget!

While the Dubai skyline is breathtaking, you should also experience the natural side of the United Arab Emirates while you’re visiting — it’s just as romantic and beautiful!

Dhow Boat Fountain Show: Cruise along the dancing fountain

the dubai fountain show which you can see up close and personal on a dhow boat cruise

The Dubai Fountain is where water, music, and light come together to make a beautiful spectacle in Downtown Dubai, near the Dubai Mall.

This is world’s largest choreographed water fountain, and it’s a great place for a date due to its romantic vibes and engaging music.

And what better way to enjoy the fountain show than by being up close to it while on a traditional Dhow boat cruise?

You’ll literally be cruising around the dancing fountains in a traditional boat and trust me, you’ll definitely want to dance along with the the fountains and the music!

The fountain has over 1,000 different water features and 50 different color projectors, and it plays different types of music from romance to classical and even traditional Arabic songs.

The show lasts for 5 minutes, and restarts every 30 minutes. All the dhow cruises are timed so that they will ensure that you visit at a key part of the fountain spectacle so you won’t miss it!

If you’re planning a Dubai date night activity and you’re looking to do something romantic and magical — without a huge price tag (it’s about $20 per person) — there’s nothing I’d recommend more than to take them on a traditional dhow boat ride to see the dancing fountains.

And if you don’t want to spend money on a dhow cruise, you can just watch the fountain show for free! It’ll be no less spectacular, but you won’t quite have the magic of cruising up close to the action.

It’s definitely one of the best things to do in Dubai at night!

The Burj Club Restaurant: A romantic rooftop dinner date with a view of Dubai’s skyscrapers

It is kind of cliché, but what is a date without food? But this is Dubai — you can make a plain old dinner date and make it an unforgettably romantic dinner experience.

Take your love out to eat at one of the most romantic places in Dubai. And where is that you may ask?

One of the classic places for a date night is at the Burj Club restaurant, located inside the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in Dubai (and the world!), on the 5th floor of the iconic building.

(Want to go higher for your meal? Keep reading — the tallest restaurant in the world is on this list!)

At the Burj Club, you can enjoy its incredible rooftop and fountain views of downtown Dubai that really help set the mood!

The club is best known for its delicious food, fresh drinks, and all-day pool access that you can enjoy with your loved one. The club even has its own DJ that can set the mood for your romantic lunch or dinner date!

Apart from the food, the club also offers a spa which you can enjoy and relax with your date and spend quality time with each other.

But that’s not all that makes it a great date idea. It’s Instagram-crack and the vibe is always festive and buzzing with its live performances.

In my opinion, that makes one heck of a memorable date!

Best of all, booking your Burj Club experience online ahead of time includes not only a romantic 3-course dinner, but also admission tickets to “At the Top” on the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa, a Dubai must-visit!

Pierchic: Italian vibes with a romantic dinner with a view

Pierchic is a multi-award-winning Italian restaurant in Dubai with its super romantic vibes and great views on a pioer, overlooking the magical azure waters of the Arabian Gulf.

In my opinion, this has to be one of the best places to take your partner on a date if you’re foodies who enjoy a meal with a view!

I celebrated my birthday there and as requested, they gave us a table facing the Burj Al Arab which was amazing!

There was a variety of dishes to choose from, from its tasteful and fresh seafood options to its delicious variety of drinks. Everything was beautifully plated, and the service was also great!

I also can’t forget about the background music. It was classical and romantic, and the volume was not too loud so that we could easily have a conversation with each other. The music only made the aura more romantic!

If you’re looking for a great date idea in Dubai to make a lasting impression, this is a great romantic place in Dubai — it will dazzle your eyes and your tastebuds!

Café Ceramique: A fun and artistic date night

If you and your date aren’t so into the idea of a candlelight dinner, why not gets hands-on and try ceramic arts dinner?

With Café Ceramique, you get to enjoy a nice meal while also painting on a ceramic utensil of your choice.

During the couple of times I’ve been here, I not only enjoyed a nice meal but was also able to get a ceramic, paint it, and later use the it for eating or drinking!

It really creates a more personal vibe and gives you a sense of accomplishment — plus, you get to bring home whatever you paint with you as a forever-memory of your date!

All the art supplies will be available to you at the venue, and the idea might be a bit of a splurge but it’s unique and fun!

Apart from being a fun place, Café Ceramique itself is designed to be a chill place where people and couples can chill and relax in the café’s comfortable seating arrangements without feeling rushed to give up their table once they finish their meal — great for lingering chats!

Escape Room: Solve mysteries on your date

Love solving mysteries and puzzles? Why not do it together at one of the many escape rooms in Dubai!

Escape rooms are one of my go-to Dubai date ideas! It’s a really good ice breaker, especially if either or both of you are the shy-yet-smart type!

Escape rooms are actually pretty useful, whether it’s a first date or a fun way to strengthen am existing relationship.

It’s a fun way to work together and use your communication skills to find a way out in time — this is especially fun if either you or your date (or both of you) have a competitive nature!

And if it’s a first date, you don’t need to worry about ice breakers or making small talk: you just need to find clues and have fun with each other!

It was definitely a fun experience for me! I personally tried Escape Hunt, where we were being hunted down and had to find a way out before the time runs out.

With the time ticking, it can be really stressful.. which can be your opportunity to step up and help your date work through this situation, but it also may be too intense for a first date!

There are other kinds of escape rooms that are a little less high-pressure, Brain Game Dubai (which also has a fun rooftop terrace for chilling afterwards!) and Escape Reality Dubai are two good options — and you can also find a full list of other escape rooms in Dubai here!

Go Karting: Competitive date night fun

If you and your date are adventurous and young at heart, go-karting is definitely the perfect date for you!

Kartdrome Dubai provides you with the best go-karting experience in the whole of the UAE! It has both indoor and outdoor tracks that you can race on.

I am a very competitive person when it comes to these things so I really had a good time — and if you and your date are anything like me, you will to!

To make the experience more authentic, all the racers will be equipped with suits, gloves, and helmets!

The night races are probably my favorite when the race track is lit up with flood lights, it just makes the whole place look like you’re in an actual race — amping up the date night fun!

You can even get a race car where one of you can sit on the passenger side and the other can drive.

It can also be super fun when you’re trying to race the other players there, and it’s also great for double dates!

The Boardwalk: Picturesque and breathtaking views on the Dubai Creek

The Boardwalk is a stunning restaurant that overlooks the beautiful Dubai Creek. This restaurant is located right on the water, and there’s no spot that is more perfect for a candlelit dinner!

The Boardwalk is a Mediterranean restaurant located in the Dubai Creek Resort. Since its debut 25 years ago, Boardwalk, which is tucked away on the beaches of the picturesque Dubai Creek, has become a well-known Dubai landmark!

The menu at Boardwalk is inspired by the Mediterranean, and customers can choose from a wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish that are cooked to order, as well as freshly baked pizzas and calzones straight from the pizza oven.

I just so happened to visit Boardwalk during the sunset and let me just say, it was so breathtaking. Your date may be competing with the sunset on who looked the best that evening!

Ossiano: Seafood and scenery

Ossiano is a cutting-edge fine dining establishment with an underwater theme. It’s like eating at the Dubai Aquarium… except this restaurant just so happens to have won a Michelin star!

Located in Atlantis the Palm, Ossiano is a Dubai staple,

Imagine enjoying a meal in one of Dubai’s most unique restaurants while stingrays, sharks, and fish swim right by your table!

It’s an extraordinary experience to eat there. Although the cuisine is excellent, the ambiance definitely wins. Due to its grandeur and elegance, this location is a must-see, and it’s also a fantastic Instagram spot!

Your dining experience at Ossiano, a trip inspired by the waters and seas, is meant to evoke feelings of wonder both at your surroundings and of the food — something you and your date are sure to love experiencing together.

A night out here is not cheap. The classic Ossiano experience is the 9 ”wave” (course) tasting menu (priced at 1095 AED, approximately $300 per person).

The amazing food pest paired with their vast wine menu that has been meticulously chosen to transport you to a world unlike any other (they’ve won a Sommelier Award in addition to their Michelin star!).

Across the variety of options to have, I’d say the cocktail “The Pearl Diver” was definitely my favorite and worth trying!

Villa Beach: Boho beach vibes

Enjoy Mediterranean cuisine near the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah at one of the many outdoor tables that are just feet from the water!

As the sun sets over the Arabian Gulf, savor a delicious diner on the wood-deck patio lit by romantic hanging lanterns.

With its relaxed, boho environment, Villa Beach, which is part of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, provides you with a taste of the tropics in desert Dubai!

The cozy, beach-style décor creates a resort-like atmosphere for your date experience, with high ceilings, clean, modern furnishings made of dark wood, and rattan chairs.

A delicious menu of hot and cold appetizers, cured meats, platters for two, and fresh seafood has been put together by the head chef to go nicely with the casual dining atmosphere.

The Braeburn apple tart and traditional baked Alaska are just a couple of the tempting dessert options available to cap off your evening.

In fact, the desserts were my favorite part. Every single option was so tempting and very beautifully presented. I definitely recommend saving room for at least one dessert if you go!

Royal Mirage: Stunning architecture in a tranquil setting

At the One&Only Resorts, Royal Mirage is a luxurious restaurant where you can indulge in a delicious meal surrounded by stunning Arabesque architecture.

You are welcomed by more than 65 acres of beautiful gardens, tranquil fountains, arches, domes, and elaborate Arabic features, right in Jumeirah Beach.

The restaurant is fantastic, but it’s also a great place to stay in Dubai! Not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful grounds, but you also have access to huge private beaches, wonderfully temperature-controlled swimming pools, and their lush green gardens.

During my visit to Royal Mirage, they even gave me a complimentary access to the Aquaventure Waterpark, one of the best waterparks in Dubai. How amazing is that?

Al Maha: A luxury resort and spa

If you’re looking for a romantic place to stay, why not stay in the Dubai desert at a luxurious desert resort?

The exclusive, guest-only Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa is located right in the heart of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve’s renowned sand dunes and lush palm groves.

The hotel offers magnificent views of the vast plains and Hajar Mountain massif, all in a peaceful isolated solitude that will make you forget Dubai is just a short 45-minute drive away.

Here, you can go for a memorable horseback ride (Scared of horses? Just remember: horses communicate through their ear position!) through the dunes.

You can also go on a camel safari or nature stroll. Take part in a famous desert safari or learn about Dubai’s traditional sports of archery and falconry.

Their 42 rooms blend discrete sophistication with genuine regional antiques, local antiquities, and careful nuances at their five-star hotel, which features private swimming pools with magnificent dune and mountain views.

You can stay here overnight, or you can visit as a guest of the spa if you don’t have the budget for their rooms.

I didn’t know about this place until the guy I was dating at the time recommended we go there one weekend! I was a bit skeptical, but it was really romantic and fun.

Although we are no longer together, this is still a top pick for me if you’re looking for a beautiful desert romance experience on a date!

Atmosphere Grill And Lounge: Highest restaurant in the world

Atmosphere is located on Level 122 of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. It offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf in addition to an excellent food selection!

The highest restaurant in the world from the ground up, this prestigious, award-winning fine dining establishment delights guests with its romantic ambiance, mouthwatering cuisine, and first-rate service.

Atmosphere is arguably the most well-known lounge and restaurant in Dubai. Both its brunch and dinner menus are particularly beloved.

Atmosphere is both a restaurant and a lounge, with the restaurant being more formal and the lounge being more laid back.

If you get invited to a date at Atmosphere, let’s just say they really care about you!

Not only is this place rather expensive, but it arguably also has the best views in the entire Dubai… though that is expected considering that it is the highest restaurant in the world!

You should know that you do have to make a reservation to come here since it does get pretty packed!

Dubai Miracle Garden: Breathtaking backdrops for your date

the dubai miracle garden flower archway

Did you really go on a date in Dubai if you didn’t Instagram it? I didn’t think so! I know I would always try to get the perfect Instagram picture… even if the date didn’t go that well!

And honestly, if you go to the Dubai Miracle Garden for your date, you’ll end up with so many stunning pictures, you won’t know which to post!

If you and your date enjoy aesthetics and taking photos, this is definitely the place to be! It’s a beautiful place to stroll hand-in-hand while admiring the beautiful flowers.

It’s even more fun when your date is just as into getting the perfect shot as you are. Teamwork makes the dream work!

I’d say definitely show up as early as possible, somewhere right around when they open, as this way you’d avoid the crowd.

I made the mistake of going a bit late and we ended up having quite a few photobomb moments, which was a bit awkward!

11 Fun Water Sports in Dubai to Beat the Heat

Let’s face it — when summer rolls around in Dubai, it gets so hot that there’s little else you want to do but stay indoors… and you probably don’t want to go on a Dubai desert safari, either.

And Dubai has tons of great things you can do indoors, of course, from its epic malls to its indoor skiing to its indoor theme parks.

But Dubai also has a plethora of water sport activities (and several waterparks) that will keep you feeling refreshed and cool, even when the sun is scorching.

Just be sure to lather on that sunscreen or cover up well before heading out on any of these activities!

These are our favorite water sports in Dubai to enjoy when the summer starts to get scorching hot — we hope you find one that will suit you!

How To Book These Dubai Water Sports Activities

view of the Dubai palm from above

We chose the best Dubai water sports based on a combination of reviews, convenience, and personal experience.

We’ve listed the tours you can take and recommend you book through Get Your Guide, a third-party tour operator that provides peace of mind through free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance — a huge relief in these strange times!

Personally, it’s what I use whenever I travel because I love their customer service and customer protection policies.

When available, each Dubai water activity has a tour listed that is available for online booking where you simply have to present a mobile voucher in order to join the tour — pretty convenient!

We’ve also listed the individual companies so you can look them up directly for reviews since we know safety is imperative when it comes to water sports.

Finally, if you’re doing more adventurous water sports, you should absolutely be booking travel insurance. And frankly, in these crazy times, you should be booking it no matter what!

I tend to book my travel insurance with World Nomads for several reasons, but the main reason is because they offer comprehensive policies in two tiers based on the level of risk you are taking, so that you don’t pay for what you don’t need to use.

For example, a trip insurance that includes scuba diving and parasailing coverage will cost slightly more than coverage that only includes more basic activities like snorkeling and kayaking!

The Best Water Sports in Dubai

Jet Skiing with Ocean Air Travels

Since we’re starting off the list with jet skiing, it should give you an idea that this list of water sports takes the word ‘sports’ literally — many of these water activities in Dubai are not for the faint-hearted!

Jet skiing in Dubai is a quite simply a thrilling water sports activity. You can obviously jet ski from anywhere around the world, but something about doing it in Dubai makes the experience a little more exciting — I mean, just look at the surroundings as you fly by!

We recommend taking a jet ski tour with Ocean Air, one of the better-reviewed water sports companies in Dubai. Their tours allows you to ride along one of the most stunning shorelines of the stunning UAE.

Visitors can cruise along the beautiful scenes while admiring Dubai’s breathtaking skies on the Arabian Gulf.

While jet skiing with Ocean Air, you can see some of the most popular sights in Dubai such as the Burj Al Arab, the Burj Khalifa, Atlantis the Palm, and so much more!

The price for this ride starts at around $95 USD AED and if you want to see more of Dubai’s scenery while jet skiing, you can choose from three different ride durations: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 120 minutes.

Book your jet ski adventure in Dubai here!

The company notes that in case of bad weather, the ride might need to be rescheduled. However, having lived in Dubai for sixteen years, I can safely say that there’s barely ever any bad weather here, so you shouldn’t worry!

If you are ever looking for a fun water sport in Dubai, jet skiing should definitely be on your itinerary!

Snorkeling with Nemo Diving Center

two people snorkeling in deep turquoise blue waters in Dubai, a popular Dubai water sport

Some people are quite hesitant to try snorkeling because of the fear of what you may see underwater — especially those with a fear of sharks — but this is probably one of my favorite Dubai water sports for this exact reason!

If you are looking for a fun place that teaches you the do’s and don’ts of snorkeling, Nemo Diving Center is the place to be!

Nemo Diving Center was founded in 2014 and I’ve seen it slowly become the go-to center for all underwater activities in Dubai.

Rather than snorkeling in Dubai proper, Nemo brings you to a prime snorkeling location in Fujairah, another one of the Emirates.

Set on the Gulf of Oman, you’ll find even more spectacular underwater life here than if you were to snorkel in Dubai proper.

They will provide transit here from Dubai as well as a full-day tour including snorkeling equipment.

A full-day tour lasting around 8 hours including hotel pickup and drop off costs about $100 USD for a full-day outing.

Book your snorkeling day trip to Fujairah here!

Scuba Diving with Nemo Diving Center

two people scuba diving in deep water with coral reef, anemones, and orange fish swimming around them, a popular water sport in Dubai

If snorkeling is a little basic for you and you want to take things up a notch, Nemo Diving Center also gives you the option of going scuba diving instead!

I really recommend scuba diving in Dubai even for people with no previous scuba experience or certification, as this is a great way to dip your toes into a new hobby!

If you’re nervous about committing to this activity, just know that you won’t be left to fend for yourselves!

There is always going to be a divemaster to guide you every step of the way, in order to make sure you are safe and making the most of your Dubai water adventure!

You can either do a day of discovery scuba diving to see if you like it, or take the full plunge (pun intended!) and complete your PADI Open Water Certification in 2 days.

This certification allows you to dive up to 18 meters, more than 60 feet, anywhere in the world!

Book your discovery scuba diving day trip or your PADI certification experience here!

If you’re already certified, you can book a 2-tank dive in Fujairah as well!

Flyboarding with Hydro Water Sports

man on a flyboard which looks like a jetpack that has you soaring from the water

Flyboarding is just one of the many latest trendy water sports that made their debut in Dubai. It’s perfect for thrill-seekers who want to try a new type of activity!

So, what exactly is flyboarding? You’re basically strapped to a board and the water pressure makes you shoot into the air as if you’re wearing a jet pack… you’ll basically be airborne with this activity!

There are quite a few companies that are offering to let you flyboard but I would recommend Hydro Water Sports, as I find them to be really safe and knowledgeable in this sport.

What I really like is that Hydro Water Sports gives you a ton of locations to choose from to try flyboarding for the first time.

However, personally I would recommend doing it on the Palm Jumeirah, since it’ll give you a pretty good view, and it’s also the most popular spot for this activity.

Book your flyboarding experience online here!

Be aware, you won’t be allowed to go flyboarding if you don’t already know how to swim.

I saw quite a few people turned down at the location for this exact reason so I thought you should know beforehand!

Paddleboarding at Nessnass Beach

man and a woman on a paddle board enjoying a water sport in Dubai

Stand-up paddleboarding is just one of those water sports that give you peace and relaxation!

Unlike other Dubai water sports which give you an adrenaline rush, this one requires you to paddle with the current while taking in the breathtaking view of Jumeirah by the Nessnass Beach.

If you’re looking for a water sport that’s a great workout, paddleboarding is definitely the sport for you — it’s a great way to grow glutes and gain core strength!

This is safe even for younger kids, as long as they know how to swim. My little sister would always get really excited about a weekend plan to go paddleboarding!

It is the perfect activity to create great family memories and have a ton of fun.

The fleet of paddleboards at Nessnass Beach ranges in size and is suitable for all levels of riders from beginners to advanced paddleboarders.

Because of its protected location from the open sea, Nessnass Beach is known for having super flat water almost all day.

Kayaking with Hydro Water Sports or SeaYou Water Sports

woman kayaking and smiling from a low angle photo with very clear water

Just like paddleboarding, kayaking is another great water sport that is perfect for even the most hesitant of folks!

I believe this was probably one of the first water sports in Dubai I tried when I was a teen. I would go with my dad every summer and we’d book a two-person boat.

Kayaking requires no special abilities and you don’t even need to know how to swim, since you’ll be provided with a life jacket.

After a lesson from an experienced instructor, you can immediately embark on a short sea kayaking trip to enjoy the beautiful views of the Dubai skyline — or even compete in a speed race with your friends!

If you want to go kayaking around the islands of the Palm Jumeirah, I recommend going with this tour hosted by SeaYou Water Sports or this tour hosted by Hydro Water Sports.

There are also sunset tours where you can kayak Dubai creek like this one here, also a SeaYou Water Sports experience.

Since you can do a single person kayak or a two-person kayak, it’s a great Dubai date activity!

Inflatable Ride with Sun & Fun Water Sports

Want to do something fun and a bit silly while in Dubai?

Take your friends and family for a thrilling and highly entertaining activity that will give you all a fantastically fun memory of your time in Dubai.

On this water activity, a banana-shaped or donut-shaped inflatable is sped along the water, tied to the back of a boat for the highest speed.

Everything aside, I can tell you one thing for sure; by the end of this activity, you’ll definitely have some really hilarious pictures to look back upon when remembering this day!

Sun & Fun Water Sports is located at Jumeirah near the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, which is where you can book your donut ride experience!

Just so you know, you need to have at least two guests in order to book this ride, and everyone must be over the age of 3 — making it good for young kids, so long as you don’t have babies or toddlers with you!

This tour offers daily departures all throughout the day, but I would recommend going early in the morning in order to avoid the crowd.

You can also do a similar donut ride with Seabreacher with Burj Al Arab views!

Parasailing at Jumeirah & Sunset Beach

people parasailing in Dubai, looking at their feet above the boat

Parasailing is an activity in which you are towed behind a boat while being attached to a canopy wing that resembles a parachute.

The speedboat with be gliding across the water and dragging you along with it, until you’re flying in the air!

My favorite part is when you’re feeling yourself slowly becoming airborne… though landing always freaks me out since I’m not sure if I’m even doing it right. Luckily there’s always a guide to help you whenever you’re confused.

You’ll get one of the best parasailing adventures at JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence).

This is because once you’re airborne, you’ll be able to see the breathtaking view of the entire Jumeirah which is to die for, sightseeing from above!

Book your parasailing tour over Jumeirah here!

The next best place for parasailing if Jumeirah is fully booked is definitely Sunset Beach!

As the name suggests, you’d definitely want to visit this beach just when the sun is about to set in order to get a stunning view of the orange sky.

Imagine this view with the Burj Al Arab in the background when parasailing!

The beach is open 24/7 with no entrance charges, though parasailing will incur an extra cost.

Wakeboarding at the Dubai Marina

Wakeboarding is a water sport in which you will be standing on a wakeboard (similar to a surfboard) while also being towed by a motorboat.

The only real difference between wakeboarding and parasailing is that with wakeboarding, you don’t become airborne… or if you do, it’s just slightly and momentarily, and completely within your control!

This water sport is perfect for those of you who have a fear of heights and would prefer to have your feet in the water instead of in the air — while still getting quite the adrenaline rush!

I can say for sure that the best place to perform wakeboarding is the Dubai Marina, where there are a few tour operators you can choose from.

There are a couple of different prices depending on the package you choose and how long you plan to go wakeboarding!

Although wakeboarding is generally not considered a hard sport, it can surely be challenging for those who have no experience in any sports activities that require a board, like surfing, skateboarding, or snowboarding.

There’s no real age limit for wakeboarding, but it typically is not suitable for children under the age of 8 years old.

If you’ve snowboarded before, know that wakeboarding is pretty similar, so it’s a good option if you want to brush up on some snowboarding skills in a new environment!

Book your wakeboarding experience here!

Windsurfing at the Dubai Kite Beach

Windsurfing is like a combination of sailing and surfing! It can also be known as sailboarding or boardsailing. It emerged in the late 1960s from the surf culture of California.

I’m not too sure about the surfing culture in California but I can definitely say Dubai is probably just as great for these water sports — and definitely has warmer waters!

Windsurfing can generally be done on any beach, but I really recommend doing it on the Dubai Kite Beach for the perfect view of Burj Al Arab in the background.

Dubai Kite Beach is located just off the Jumeirah neighborhood and is just a few miles away from the famous Burj Al Arab.

It offers a safe place to windsurf with a great view and also, you can get the chance to see kitesurfers (yes, kitesurfing is different than windsurfing!) doing stunning tricks.

I really like how other windsurfers who go to this beach are super friendly and always willing to lend you a hand and teach you the ways around this popular watersport!

Dubai Kite Beach is open 24/7; however, I really recommend coming out early in the morning for windsurfing if you don’t want to miss out on the view of the Burj Al Arab!

This beach also has restaurants, toilets, and showers if you’re planning on staying longer with the family.

You should also know that even if you’d want to perform windsurfing late at night, it’s not exactly allowed as they shut down surfing activities after sunset for safety purposes.

Fishing with Go Fishing and Fishing Tour Dubai

man in a hat fishing off the side of a boat in Dubai

Since fresh fish is one of the most popular dishes among Emiratis, it is no surprise that fishing is also one of the most popular water sports in this region!

Emiratis feel a sense of pride knowing that they get to eat something that they’ve put the effort into catching on their own. I tried fishing once… let’s just say it didn’t go very well, but perhaps you’ll have more luck!

Dubai has a ton of beaches that allow you to come and set up camp for fishing. However, most people don’t really know where to go in order to get a better chance at catching a ton of fish.

This is why I recommend using Go Fishing Dubai for your fishing experience, as they will take you to the exact locations where you’ll find quite a lot of fish to catch!

I also think if you’re teaching your kid how to fish, taking them somewhere where you know they’re most likely going to catch something can really boost their confidence.

If you like to fish with a group of people for the banter and also to get to know more tips and tricks with this activity, I really recommend checking out Fishing Tour Dubai.

They gather a large group of people and take them all out on a weekend getaway to go fishing!

At the end of the day, everyone gets to eat, exchange, and sell their fish which can prove to be really fun.

What to Know Before You Visit Dubai

Dress Code

Dubai is a cosmopolitan and modern city, but it’s also important to respect its culture, which values modesty, like many other countries in the Middle East.

When walking around the city, it’s best for both men and women to have their shoulders and knees covered whenever possible. Expats will tend to dress less conservatively than locals, but they still tend to follow this rule of thumb.

While doing water sports in Dubai, it’s fine to wear a regular swimsuit or bikini, but I’d err on the slightly more covered up swimsuit — think high-waisted swimsuits and one-pieces, not Instagram-style high-rise, low-cut swimsuits.

Best Time for Dubai Travel

The summer in Dubai is extremely hot — to the point where it may not be enjoyable to visit at all, when average high temperature is 106° F (41° C) with little relief at night, when the average temperature rarely drops below 86° F (30° C).

Luckily, virtually everywhere in Dubai has air conditioning, but summer is still not a good time to visit since you likely won’t be able to enjoy many activities.

Things like wandering around the Miracle Garden, taking a walking city tour, or checking out the Old Dubai area are out, and even the beach clubs aren’t very enjoyable when it’s this hot out!

The best time to visit Dubai is in winter, between November and March, but you’ll find the best combination of good weather and good prices around the shoulder seasons of late fall (October/November) and early spring (April/May).

Getting Around Dubai

busy roads of dubai at night, showing movement of the city after dark, with the burj khalifa as the landmark of the city centered in the photo

If you only have 2 days in Dubai, you’ll want to maximize your time in the best way possible. This means forgoing public transportation in lieu of getting around more quickly and efficiently.

Luckily, taxis and car services are rather affordable options for moving around downtown Dubai and are one of the more popular ways for locals to get around.

You can take official Dubai taxis, but I suggest using an app such as Uber or the local favorite, Careem.

Arriving in Dubai

Odds are that you’ll be arriving at Dubai International Airport. I don’t recommend flying into Abu Dhabi and then heading to Dubai if you only have two days in Dubai — it’s too hectic.

There are a few ways to get into downtown Dubai from the airport, but I recommend pre-booking a private transfer for the easiest start to your weekend in Dubai.

There are metro stations all around Dubai that connect to the airport, but frankly, transfers and taxis are easier, especially since the hotels you might want to stay at are located all around Dubai and there’s not really one central hotel area.

Laws & Traveler Safety

a traveler holding a drink with a straw in dubai with the skyline as the background

Drinking in Dubai is permitted for non-Muslims, meaning that tourists can imbibe alcohol if they want. Alcohol is generally available at hotels and tourist-oriented restaurants, but not anywhere public, such as beaches, etc. You can find some more information here.

That said, public drunkenness is widely frowned upon, and there can be harsh penalties for being drunk or lewd in public or drinking and driving.

While alcohol is technically legal, my suggestion is to take advantage of the wonderful non-alcoholic drink options and to spend some time seeing what a vacation can be like without consuming alcohol!

Editor’s Note: Dubai has strict laws around public displays of affection for both heterosexual and queer couples. However, queer people should take extra caution, as same-sex intimacy is illegal and criminalized in the UAE, and so is dressing in a way that does not conform with the stated sex/gender marker on one’s passport, which can impact trans travelers.

While many LGTBQ+ people visit Dubai and do so safely, and LGBTQ+ people certainly exist and live in the UAE, being visibly out in the UAE is potentially dangerous for queer people. If you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I suggest seeking out additional LGBTQ-specific resources before visiting such as this guide and this guide, and adhere firmly to the rules while visiting for your own safety.

The 15 Best Theme Parks in Dubai (Chosen by a Local)

There are many things Dubai is known for: never-ending shopping malls, impossibly tall skyscrapers, and ridiculously luxurious hotel and dining experiences.

But Dubai is also a great place to kick back and have fun — whether you’re traveling Dubai with kids or just love visiting theme parks as an adult!

There are a surprisingly high number of theme parks in Dubai that are perfect for every kind of traveler.

These parks are the perfect place to visit by day and also by night — many of these parks stay open quite late!

This post was written by Alyaziah Hayat, a 16-year resident of the United Arab Emirates. She has explored Dubai's many amusement parks firsthand and is sharing all of her tips with you in this post!

The Best Theme Parks in Dubai

MOTIONGATE: A Hollywood-inspired theme park

I obviously have to start off with probably one of my top favorites, MOTIONGATE Dubai.

It is located in Dubai Parks and Resorts, which is such a plus if you’re an avid theme park-goer like me, as this region is home to most of the best theme parks in Dubai!

MOTIONGATE Dubai is great for thrill-seekers with heart-stopping shows, exhilarating rides, and limitless movie-themed fun. And yes, the name is actually in all caps!

This place is basically a Hollywood-themed park that has all sorts of zones and attractions based on DreamWorks Animation, Cartoon Network, Columbia Pictures, Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Lionsgate, amongst other Hollywood behemoths.

The slogan of this place is “where rides and movies come together” and that’s truly what it delivers!

MOTIONGATE was originally supposed to open in early 2016, and I was super excited since I’m a big Hollywood fan. However, there were some construction delays which led to it actually opening right at the end of the year.

But when it did actually open, it was a huge hit and there were lines going out to the street!

The park has roughly 30 rides and attractions spread out over five distinct zones. I wouldn’t be able to choose a favorite even if I tried!

One of the great things about this place is there are rides for both adults and children so you never have to feel left out.

My little siblings really loved the Smurfs Village area, as the attendants really made them feel comfortable and welcomed.

There are also a ton of restaurants and cafés for all you foodies out there!

Bollywood Parks: A Bollywood-inspired theme park

If you’re a Bollywood fan like me, there’s no way you’d miss out on an opportunity to visit the Bollywood Parks Dubai!

This family-friendly park is filled with rides, performances, and stunt shows, all based on some of the most popular Bollywood and Indian movies.

Just like MOTIONGATE and a couple of the other amusement parks I’m going to be talking about here, Bollywood Parks is also located in Dubai Parks and Resorts.

The great thing about this region is that it’s only a couple of minutes outside the main city area of Dubai, making it an easy day trip or add-on to your Dubai itinerary.

The park has several distinct themed zones, including Bollywood Boulevard, Mumbai Chowk, Rustic Ravine, Royal Plaza, Mela Junction, and Bollywood Film Studios, each with its own charms and attractions.

Throughout the day, live song and dance performances are held to entertain the guests, done in the Bollywood style of course!

If you’re a thrill-seeker like me, I really recommend riding the Bollywood Sky Flyer at least once. This ride is breaking records — it’s the tallest swing ride in the world!

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about getting on but trust me, it was so worth it!

The park is open throughout the year, and the best part is that the park offers free parking. Paid valet is also available!

Legoland: Your dose of dopamine

Legoland Dubai is a – you guessed it – Lego-themed adventure park in Dubai.

Although there’s no age restriction, the rides here are mainly catered towards the younger age group. Most parkgoers here range in ages from 2 to 12 — accompanied by their parents, of course.

This joyous land includes about 40 interactive rides, shows, and attractions, as well as 15,000 LEGO model structures constructed manually from more than 60 million Lego bricks.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find that really impressive!

Legoland Dubai is the Middle East’s first Lego-themed park and the seventh in the world.

This park also has a separate section that is dedicated to water-based rides. You can access the Legoland Water Park through Legoland itself.

And you can’t forget the food! Multiple restaurants are available that provide a variety of dining options for all kinds of cuisines and preferences.

Overall, Legoland Dubai is a fantastic place to let your kids’ imaginations run wild and engage in some fun, independent activities.

So, if you’re ever in Dubai with little kids, visiting Legoland will definitely leave a permanent memory for the little ones, as well as being fun for the whole family!

Global Village: A cultural entertainment destination

Crowds at Global Village an amusement park in Dubai

Global Village is the region’s first one-of-a-kind interconnected destination that combines the cultures of 90 different countries into one place!

You’ll find separate country-themed structures for several countries around the world that contain nation-specific items for sale such as food, clothing, accessories, and more!

The Village is divided into four sections. These categories include events and concerts, carnivals, food, and shopping.

There are two types of parking available. The first is free parking, while the second is paid VIP parking. To be honest, there really isn’t any major difference between the two.

All of these extraordinary experiences can be enjoyed for the low entry fee of AED 15 — just $4 USD!

The Global Village running season begins in November and lasts until April, and is closed during the hottest months of the year.

Laguna Water Park: A shorefront waterpark in the La Mer

Laguna Water Park is the aquatic paradise of your dreams, located in the heart of one of the most popular shorefronts in the region.

The water park is divided into four distinct zones: Surf, Relax, Slide, and Splash, each catering to a different whim.

Laguna Waterpark has five main attractions, two of which are firsts in the Middle East!

A day pass to Laguna allows visitors to enjoy direct access to the beautiful La Mer beachfront, as well as multiple restaurants and leisure services.

I personally really love the Lazy River, where you get to chill on a floatie while being swept along the river’s current! It’s definitely a lot more low-octane than some of the other water sports in Dubai!

Bringing your own food and beverages are not allowed; however, you can purchase them at the park at one of the four main restaurants available. Free WiFi can also be accessed all over the park!

Action Park: An adrenaline-raising paintball park

A group of friends playing paintball together in Dubai theme park

If you’re coming to Dubai from Abu Dhabi, you’ll find Action Park right at the exit you take to enter Dubai!

It’s a great first start to your Dubai tour after you’re done touring Abu Dhabi.

Action Park is famous for several adrenaline-pumping attractions including a paintball park, the first upside down house in the UAE, go-karting, and many more attractions that are still being built!

Families, residents, tourists, and students are all welcome at this new but popular attraction!

While not the best for families with babies or toddlers, Action Park is suitable for kids around the ages of 5 to 17, although they must be accompanied by adults.

You’re obviously going to be really hungry after all the tiring, adrenaline-pumping rides!

Fear not — there are several restaurants on-site to offer you a variety of dishes ranging from burgers to mini pancakes and karak, a delicious Chai-style tea.

The park is most famous for its paintballing, which is the biggest draw for adult visitors, but there are many other things you can do at Action Park!

Parking spots are also available outside the park along with bus and train services.

Dinosaur Park: An imaginative home to prehistoric creatures

This park is great for all the dinosaur lovers out there!

It is located in the Zabeel Park in central Dubai (where you’ll also find the Dubai Frame, one of the best views of Dubai) along with a couple of other themed attractions.

This park is teeming with animated robotic dinosaurs that both move and roar, giving you the full Jurassic Park experience.

The park also features museums with real dinosaur skeletons, perfect if you’re a big archaeology fan like me, making it a park that appeals to both kids and adults alike!

It shows the evolution of dinosaurs from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to the present day, with over 120 animatronic dinosaurs on display.

Best of all for families with young kinds, children under the age of 3 get free access to the park!

Since the park is in the heart of Dubai, several different buses and trains are convenient to get to the park. I strongly recommend taking public transport as parking can be really stressful here!

Food items are allowed to be taken inside the park and can be purchased in the park as well — the park serves up a variety of dishes at affordable prices.

IMG Worlds Of Adventure: The world’s largest indoor theme park

Walking down IMG Boulevard | Photo Credit: Jeremy Thompson via Flickr (CC BY 2.0)

There’s no way we’re letting you leave Dubai without visiting IMG Worlds of Adventure!

This is a very prominent attraction today not only because it is the biggest indoor theme park in Dubai (great for hot Dubai summers!) but also because it is the biggest in the world itself!

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush at theme parks but struggle to find any, IMG Worlds Of Adventure is the place for you!

It is a perfect place to unleash all that pent-up energy you’ve been storing up if you’ve been binge-watching Netflix all week.

Fun fact: IMG Worlds Of Adventure is home to the largest roller coasters in the whole of Dubai!

IMG Worlds Of Adventure also offers several other rides; the most famous is the Velociraptor ride which is famous for its speed and thrill!

If you enjoy getting a little fright, one of the more scary places is the Haunted Hotel.

Perfect for those above age 15, are you able to experience this terrifying maze?Getting in might be easy, but can you find your way out?

You’ll go through a maze of corridors where each corner reveals something more horrific than the last.

Lost Valley: A blast from the prehistoric past

With this being the second dinosaur-themed attraction on this list, you can probably tell I have a bias!

Unlike the Dinosaur Park, though, the Lost Valley is just one of those hidden gems that you won’t know about unless a local introduces you to it!

The reason this place is usually looked over is because it is a 4-minute walk from the main part of IMG Worlds of Adventure. Therefore, you’ll see tourists usually choosing to go there instead.

However, I personally prefer attractions which aren’t that popular — this way, you get to try out every attraction with no lines stopping you!

There are a number of dinosaur-themed activities, rides, and restaurants here. It also allows people to go back in time through informative exhibits that help you learn more about dinosaurs and the prehistoric period.

There is a wide variety of rides at this hidden gem that are suitable for people of all ages.

It includes the famous Predator ride as well as the Velociraptor rollercoaster than takes you through the prehistoric jungle of the Lost Valley!

However, the most significant way to see the dinosaurs up close is to go to the Forbidden Territory, and get up close with some of the rather more dangerous dinosaurs along with several interesting ones well!

Columbia Pictures: A hidden gem in Dubai Parks and Resorts

Entrance to Columbia Pictures Dubai | Photo Credit: Jeremy Thompson via Flickr (CC BY 2.0)

Columbia Pictures Dubai is another one of those hidden gems located in Dubai Parks and Resorts!

It’s often overlooked, simply because it is a two-minute walk from MOTIONGATE and tourists usually choose to go there instead.

But to those select few people who actually come and visit this hidden gem, they will get the opportunity to embark on a journey where they experience 800 years old battle between Vampires and Lucans!

You also get the chance to attend the Hotel Transylvania meet and greet and be able to check out the spooky mansion!

I have to admit, my favorite ride has got to be Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Is it because the movie is an all-time favorite? Probably.

Other than that, there are several joyous meet and greets involving Toothless, Hiccup, the Madagascar team, and Effie. Get a chance to snap a pic with your favorite movie star!

Aquaventure Waterpark: Home to record-breaking water slides

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is located at one of the most breathtaking places in Dubai, The Palm Jumeirah.

If you take the metro to the Waterpark station, you’ll be able to see the entire park from up above at the Atlantis the Palm, which gives you the most stunning view ever!

The water park is famous for hosting over 105 water slides, attractions, and other experiences. It’s great for everything from family fun to fun daytime dates to days out with your friends.

You can go underwater while wearing a unique helmet that allows you to breathe underwater, and you can surround yourself with amazing marine species.

There are even water slides for groups or family members such as Poseidon’s Revenge, Slitherine, Blackout, Vortex, Hydra Racer, and many more!

Experience a mix of sensations from mega drops to vertical zooms that create a sense of weightlessness for a short second!

SEGA Republic Dubai: Home to rides, arcades, and events

Interior of SEGA Republic | Photo Credit: Martin Lewison via Flickr (CC BY-SA 2.0)

SEGA Republic is one of the most popular indoor theme parks in Dubai.

This is not only because of its thrilling rides, but also because it is located right inside the Dubai Mall. This is the perfect next stop for you after visiting the Burj Khalifa, which is right next door.

SEGA Republic is a 76,000 square feet indoor theme park that provides 15 high-adrenaline motion-simulated rides and an indoor spin coaster.

It also features a large selection of arcade games. Combining the latest leisure technologies with high entertainment value, it represents a milestone in indoor theme park development.

Games and attractions were themed around Sega’s video games and characters such as Sonic the Hedgehog.

Although this wasn’t my favorite show growing up, the theme park definitely brings a unique twist to the characters.

Some of the other interesting and amusing rides include the Wild Wings and Wild Jungle, which are a pair of motion sensor rides.

Another is the Sonic Hopper which is a drop tower, and also, the Giant Slider which is said to be the tallest and longest indoor slide in the Middle East.

Adventura Park: Home to climbing, ziplining, and more!

Person ziplining as seen from below, stretching their arms out as they soar on the zipline

Adventura is one of the only theme parks in Dubai where you actually have to perform thrilling activities yourself, instead of just sitting on thrilling rides!

For this reason, this is also probably one of my favorite theme parks in Dubai.

Commonly also called the treetop activity center, the Adventura Park is set on 35,000 square meters of beautiful Ghar Tree forests where friends, families, students, and teams learn, play, and grow in the heart of nature.

Adventura Park is also famously known as Dubai‘s largest zipline park. There are 24 ziplines, 6 circuits, 80 obstacles, and so much more!

Though I must admit, the reason I usually come here is for their tree surfing and rope climbing activities!

Children can compete in the Adventura challenges, celebrate their birthdays there, set up a camp, and learn teamwork through the various tasks that the children have to do together.

But of course, there is also a café, Café Chris, to get you up and running with energy!

Wild Wadi Waterpark: A place for beachfront thrilling rides

People at Wild Wadi | Photo Credit: Studio Sarah Lou via Flickr (CC BY 2.0)

Wild Wadi Waterpark is probably the most popular water park in Dubai.

It is located at one of the most breathtaking spots, with the Burj al Arab in the backdrop along with a stunning view of the beach.

This water park has been around for quite a long time, as I remember going there every weekend growing up!

This was the only water park in the area back then, and it was the go-to place for Dubai residents to escape from the scorching heat of the Arabic sun.

If you’re looking for more thrilling water slides, you’re better suited to Aquaventure in Atlantis.

However, if you’d like to spend the day relaxing through lazy rivers and peaceful saunas, Wild Wadi is the place to be.

I can say from personal experience that you’ll definitely be coming back for more!

13 Best Views in Dubai: Rooftop Bars, Observation Decks, Attractions & More!

view of dubai at night with cars on the highway

If you’re one of those people who love to get the best view of a city, this is the guide for you!

Dubai is an incredibly modern and built-up city, with one of the most awe-inspiring skylines in the world — all the more impressive for being built in the middle of the desert (and doing a desert safari is another can’t-miss Dubai activity!).

This guide to the best views in Dubai was written by Alyaziah, a UAE local who spent 16 years calling this city home — needless to say, she knows where to find amazing views of Dubai, including some places that only in-the-know people are aware of!

Here we go!

The Best Views in Dubai

The Burj Khalifa

view of the burj khalifa from the exterior with the dubai fountain at its feet and the dubai mall nearby

It only makes sense to start off this list with the tallest building in the world: the Burj Khalifa! This building is the pride and joy of the United Arab Emirates, and your Dubai itinerary wouldn’t be complete without seeing it.

The absolutely stunning Burj Khalifa is located in the heart of Dubai and right beside one of the biggest malls in the area, the Dubai Mall.

There are two ways to enjoy views of the Burj Khalifa. You can either be outside and view the majestic building in all its glory, framed by the Dubai fountain, or you could be inside it on one of the highest floors and enjoy the breathtaking view of Dubai!

Once in the Burj Khalifa, you have quite a few options to get a good view. Atmosphere Lounge is located on the 122nd floor and is ideal for a weekend hangout with friends.

However, I recommend visiting it for brunch in order to get the perfect light for pictures with the incredible views!

view of the dubai fountain as seen from above on one of the floors of the burj khalifa

The Burj Khalifa has 148 floors. To get to the 124th and 125th floors, you can buy a ticket for around $45 USD.

These aren’t skip-the-line tickets so there may be some waiting involved, as this is quite a popular attraction as you get the best possible view of the Dubai skyline from here!

Book your tickets to the 124th & 125th floors online here!

There’s also a premium option that includes skip-the-line privileges as well as bringing you up to the 148th floor, the tallest part of the observation deck. This comes at a price, though — you have to pay around $150 USD for this skip-the-line ticket!

I find this to be really pricy, but honestly, if you can afford it, it’s so worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you’ll only be in Dubai once, you might as well go all the way up!

You can visit by day for epic views that stretch out as far as the eye can see, but there’s also something special about going at sunset and seeing Dubai at night come to life!

Book your skip the line tickets to the 124th, 125th & 148th floors here!

The Highest View Lounge at Gevora Hotel

Photo Credit: Alex DROP via Flickr (CC BY-NC-ND 2.0)

Did you know that Dubai is also home to the tallest hotel in the world? Dubai really likes to go big or go home with its architecture, so at this point, you shouldn’t even be surprised!

The Gevora Hotel is the tallest hotel in Dubai, reaching heights of 356 meters, or just about 1167 feet.

The hotel features hundreds of rooms and suites, along with a couple of restaurants and other amenities. If you want to stay at this hotel, make sure you request to stay on one of the highest floors!

Book your stay in the tallest hotel in Dubai here!

Since the hotel is located at one of the busiest spots in Dubai, right on Sheikh Zayed Road, you’ll get a great view of the city life in all its glory.

Also located in the Gevora Hotel is the Highest View Lounge, which is the highest restaurant and bar in this hotel!

The lounge is located 280 meters (920 feet) up off the ground and provides you with a 360-degree view of the Dubai skyline!

If you happen to pop by this lounge, I highly recommend trying out their seafood, as I have found it to be one of the best in the area — and this is coming from both a local and a foodie!

hand serving a cocktail

They also have a couple of signature mocktails which shouldn’t be missed out on.

From this lounge, you’ll be able to see a couple of top Dubai attractions like Burj Khalifa and the Royal Palaces as well.

Tip: Be aware that they charge a 150 AED ($40) cover fee during booking and reservation — and this is on top of what you’ll be charged for the food and drinks you order!

The Dubai Frame

the famous 'frame' of dubai that shows a view of old dubai on one side and new dubai on the other

The Dubai Frame is located right between old Dubai and new Dubai and serves as a symbol to connect both these regions into one.

The Dubai Frame was constructed to signify that no matter how famous or popular you become, you should never forget where you started from.

Not only can you view the frame but the outside, but you can actually go up into the frame (which is yet another superlative — the largest picture frame in the world!) and have a tour that shows you Dubai’s origins and how it evolved into one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

The elevators in the Dubai Frame will take you right to the 48th floor where you get a jaw-dropping view of new Dubai on one side and old Dubai on the other.

Image Credit: Alan & Flora Botting via Flickr (CC BY-SA 2.0)

While the 48th floor is not extremely high compared to other places on the list, its prime location gives you a spectacular view of quite a few popular spots like the Dubai Creek on one end and the Burj Khalifa on the other.

Aside from the amazing backdrop this frame creates in pictures from the outside, you can also get great photos from the 48th floor with the Dubai skyline in the background.

A little surprise that you probably wouldn’t know of until you actually get all the way to the top is that this frame also has a little coffee shop where you have a mini coffee break after your photo session!

Admission is 50 AED for adults and 20 AED for children ($14 USD and $5.50 USD, respectively).

Address: Zubeel Park

Address Sky View

The Address Sky View features some of the most thrilling and unique ways to get great views of Dubai in the heart of Business Bay… though we warn you, some of these are not for the faint of heart!

Let’s start off with their observatory deck, which has some of the best views in the city.

The Sky View Observatory is located on the 52nd and 53rd floors of the Sky View luxury hotel, and it allows you to get a 360-degree view of Downtown Dubai.

Book your entrance ticket to the Sky View Observatory here, with the option to add on the Sky Edge Walk!

Perhaps coolest of all, you get to ride on the glass elevator which also allows you to view Dubai until you get to your floor!

This hotel even features an edge walk! The Sky View’s Edge Walk is one of the most thrilling adventures in Dubai and is definitely something that you need to try at least once in your lifetime.

This is the highest full circle hands-free walk on a ledge in Dubai. You get to walk on a ledge along this skyscraper with no protective barriers — just your harness!

Finally, we can’t talk about this hotel and not mention the glass slide! The Sky View’s Slide is a transparent tube that wraps around this building by taking you from the 53rd floor to the 52nd floor.

If you’re an adrenaline junkie, this is the perfect activity for you!

You can also stay at the Address Sky View for some 5-star hotel luxury, complete with a private infinity pool for guests only with some of the best views of the city!

Check prices and availability at Address Sky View here!

Level 43 Sky Lounge

Photo Credit: Balazs Szanto via Flickr (CC BY-SA 2.0)

The Level 43 Sky Lounge is a fun rooftop bar located in the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel!

There is always something fun going on at this lounge — whether it’s a Geisha Night where you get to bring all your girlfriends for a fun ladies’ night featuring a DJ, or a night of Cocktail Dreams where you will get to taste some of their signature cocktails.

All this while enjoying good music, great vibes, and a stunning view to top it all off!

This is just one of those places where you have to go both during the day and the night in order to get the full experience.

During the day is when you’ll be able to see a panoramic view of everything from the Burj Khalifa to even Burj al Arab and Jumeirah Beach!

If you go during the day, you can enjoy their afternoon tea offerings.

If you go at night, I really recommend asking the waiter what’s the best drink that’s available today and have them bring you one of their signature cocktails or mocktails that are to die for!

Address: Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Center Area

The View At The Palm

Photo Credit: Dominic Scaglioni via Flickr (CC BY 2.0)

There is absolutely no way we’re allowing you to leave Dubai without seeing the Palm at least once… and what better place to do so than at the Palm Tower!

The View At The Palm Observatory is located on the 52nd floor of this tower which is about 240 meters high.

It offers a panoramic 360-degree view of the entire Palm Jumeirah with bonus views of the Arabian Gulf as well.

Book your entrance ticket to the View at the Palm here!

Spoiler alert — the Palm is equally as breathtaking in real life as it is in all the pictures you’ve seen of it!

You’ll also be able to travel through time with the View Exhibition, which is an interactive aquatic tunnel that allows you to explore the history behind this popular landmark!

If you’re planning a special event with friends, family, or loved ones, you can even book The Lounge which is located at the very top of this tower.

The best part is that you can even customize the menu and the entertainment to match the theme of your event!

Treehouse

Now this is a hidden gem that you probably wouldn’t have found unless you got yourself an extrovert local to show you around… or this blog post!

The Treehouse Lounge & Bar is located on the rooftop of the Taj Hotel which is a 5-minute drive from Burj Khalifa.

This is the business district of Dubai, and so Treehouse is that one spot where everyone likes to hang out on their lunch break on Fridays as they look forward to the weekend.

If you’re a lover of the arts, you’ll absolutely fall in love with the ambiance of this place! It has a rich Renaissance-inspired décor and is the perfect getaway after a long and busy day at work… or sightseeing!

What most people don’t want you to know is that every Friday, Treehouse hosts a special hidden brunch after-party.

This runs from 4 PM to 9 PM and if you’re lucky, you may find yourself attending a party with either a celebrity or a famous local!

Zipline Through Dubai Marina

What better way to get a crystal clear view of Dubai’s skyline than ziplining through it?!

XLine Dubai is the world’s longest urban zip line (Dubai and superlatives just go hand-in-hand) that spans across the Dubai Marina skyline.

It is about 170 meters high (560 feet) and a full kilometer long (3,280 feet)!

You will be going super-fast at speeds reaching 80 kilometers per hour (50 MPH) so it is definitely not for the faint of heart!

This is just one another one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that you will never forget — and if you do, luckily you’ll also have the ability to capture it all on video!

XLine Dubai provides these zipline rides 6 days a week and you’ll be able to get your tickets from the XLine Booth in Dubai Marina Mall on Level P.

Once you get your tickets, you’ll also be weighed here to make sure you meet the safety criteria to ride the zipline.

Once you pass, you’ll be taken to your take-off point which is the Amwaj Towers right next door. From here, you’ll come ziplining back to the Dubai Marina Mall, which is your landing point.

The Dubai Marina is also a great departure point for lots of fun Dubai water sports, so you can get two different views – and adrenaline rushes – all in one convenient location!

Book your ziplining experience here!

SoBe

SoBe is the only rooftop bar on Palm Jumeirah that gives you a panoramic 360-degree view of the stunning Dubai coastline.

It is located at the W Dubai – The Palm and is a place you must visit if you’re into getting that perfect sunset snap for the ‘gram.

This is the perfect romantic getaway with your significant other, especially with the heart-shaped seating between palm trees and opening up to a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea ahead.

SoBe’s theme is inspired by South Beach Miami, and it features creative, funky décor and neon lights which definitely set the mood during the nighttime!

Since most people come here just for the views and end up not spending much at the actual bar, SoBe has set a minimum spend limit if you want to dine at the bar with the views.

This minimum limit depends on what day of the week you’re planning on visiting and will be disclosed when you book a reservation.

Skydive Dubai – The Palm & Desert Dropzone

dubai palm jumeirah seen from above

There’s no better way to get the full view of the Palm Jumeirah than quite literally free-falling right onto the island!

Skydive Dubai will give you an experience of a lifetime that you’ll never forget. Although this is probably one of the most expensive things to do in Dubai, it is so worth it and is definitely something you should try if you’ve ever had the urge to skydive.

If you’re feeling anxious about the experience, just know that Skydive Dubai gives you an hour-long training course before you actually jump just to mentally and physically prepare you for what’s about to happen.

At the end of the training course, you’ll be eager to finally have a go at it on your turn!

If you’re done skydiving at The Palm and you’d still like a second go, Skydive Dubai also has a second location in the outskirts of Dubai which is their Desert Dropzone.

This will drop you in the middle of the desert to give you the full experience of seeing both sides of Dubai!

Quench your thirst in a luxurious retreat at the top of the city!

The stunning Skyview Bar at the Burj al Arab does things differently on the 27th floor, located 200 meters (660 feet) above sea level.

This is a great romantic spot in Dubai for couples, but it’s also great for friends and even solo travelers looking for an epic view!

From contemporary classics to inventive cocktails, their skilled mixologists go to great lengths to find inspiration from the most unexpected locations.

As a result, their drinks selection is unique, utilizing unusual ingredients and imaginative techniques to create your beverage, with each recipe highly guarded to ensure their menu is one-of-a-kind.

But of course, the beautiful views are no less spectacular than the drinks, as you enjoy this unique vantage point in the city.

Capture your reflection in the shimmering lights of the Dubai cityscape as you stare out the floor-to-ceiling windows that encircle the bar.

The inside of Skyview has been created for intimate interactions, and an ever-changing lineup of live music guarantees that the sights and sounds are as remarkable as the drinks they serve.

Cocktail making is a true art form at this bar, as befits a 7-star hotel that is commonly listed as one of the best hotels in the world.

Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Dubai Desert

hot air balloon over the dunes with skyline of dubai visible on the horizon

When I ask people who visited Dubai as a tourist if they managed to try a hot air balloon ride, most of them admitted to not knowing this was even a thing!

This was quite surprising since I find this to be one of the top things that should be on your bucket list if you visit this city.

The hot air balloon ride takes off from the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, which is a bit on the outskirts of Dubai which is probably why many people haven’t heard about it.

In order to ride the hot air balloon, you need to have made a booking and reservation.

Once this is confirmed, you need to be prepared to wake up early in the morning as you will get a private ride that will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 am to take you to your take-off spot in time for sunrise.

Once at the spot, you’ll first go through an hour-long safety briefing and instructions to follow during take-off and landing.

Prices start at around $300 USD for the Standard Package or $330 for the package that includes a camel ride and opportunity to learn about falconry in the UAE.

Book your standard hot air balloon flight here or your luxury balloon flight with a camel ride and falcon experience!

Tomo – Japanese Restaurant at Raffles Hotel

Tomo is a Japanese restaurant that is located on the 17th floor of the Raffles Hotel in Dubai.

This Dubai hotel is a popular landmark due to its unique structure, particularly when compared to the rest of the buildings surrounding it.

If you’re in Oud Metha and you’re looking for the Raffles Hotel, just scan the area for the pyramid-shaped building and you’ll be at your destination!

I’ve always had trouble finding a same-day reservation, so you definitely need to book in advance to stay here.

Tomo is a Japanese word that literally translates to a long-time friend. The restaurant has a very homey vibe to it and you’ll definitely feel comfortable like you’re just at home!

The chefs are Japanese and so you’ll get a very authentic Japanese flavor with your meals while you enjoy the stunning backdrop of the Dubai skyline which will also feature Burj Khalifa.

If the heat is killing you, you also have the option of indoor seating where you’ll still get a birds-eye view of the skyline ahead with the benefit of air conditioning!

2 Days in Dubai: Itinerary to Maximize Your Dubai Weekend Trip!

view of the burj khalifa from the exterior with the dubai fountain at its feet and the dubai mall nearby

Dubai is one of the most dazzling destinations you can visit in the Middle East.

Famous for its world class architecture and dining experiences, Dubai also has more than meets the eye when it comes to appreciating nature, too!

You can go exploring the underwater world or the beautiful dunes of the desert, all within a short distance of downtown Dubai.

If you only have two days in Dubai, it’ll be hard to fit it all in. Dubai is a bit spread out, so definitely expect to be hopping in and out of taxis and Ubers instead of walking around the city the way you might somewhere else.

Luckily, I have Alyaziah here to guide you on this Dubai itinerary. Alyaziah is a Dubai local who spent 16 years living in Dubai and knows it like the back of her hand.

She put together this Dubai travel guide to show you Dubai through her eyes, so you can enjoy it to the fullest. Enjoy!

Meanwhile, if you’re at beach clubs, beaches, and resorts, pretty much anything goes!

2 Day Dubai Itinerary: Day One

view of the jumeirah palm in dubai

Today is all about getting your orientation in Dubai!

We’ll explore the neighborhoods of Jumeirah and downtown Dubai, and then you can choose your own evening adventure: either a night of adventure in the Dubai desert or dining in luxury at a fancy Dubai restaurant!

Start your day at Comptoir 102.

With all the places you’re set to visit, it is important to start the first day with a full stomach so you don’t run out of energy halfway through this Dubai itinerary!

It is also important to start your day in a peaceful, Zen environment, especially since the rest of your day is going to be so jam-packed with adventures.

Comptoir 102 is a gorgeous boho-style café in the heart of Jumeirah, one of my favorite Dubai neighborhoods.

I love to start my day here, especially during a stressful week since the ambiance is very soothing and relaxing.

The café is designed to look like a cozy cottage and you’ll see racks of clothing, jewelry, and home décor filling up the entire space.

The outdoor seating arrangement is super cozy for a cup of coffee. Their almond milk chai latte is to die for!

If you’re big on sustainable living, this café really fits the bill, because of their strong focus on only serving sustainable vegetarian meals.

They source their ingredients from local organic farms — yes, there are farms in the UAE!

Have any dietary restrictions? You’ll find that they have a wide range of gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free choices, so you don’t have to worry about missing out because of your dietary needs.

Take a short ride to the Jumeirah Mosque.

the jumeirah mosque with two minarets, palm trees in front, and domes: a must visit on your dubai itinerary

You can’t come to Dubai and not experience the beautiful Islamic religion for yourself! The United Arab Emirates is an Islamic country, and learning about it while you are in Dubai is a must.

The combination of the long history of Islam with the modern vision that Dubai has as a city is a beautiful contrast.

When you think about Islam, you probably don’t picture the luxurious Dubai. This is exactly why a little religious education is in store!

As the name probably gave away, Jumeirah Mosque is located in, well, Jumeirah, close to Jumeirah Public Beach.

The mosque is only a 7-minute drive from Comptoir 102, and so it is the perfect next stop in your Dubai itinerary.

While some mosques in the UAE do not allow non-Muslims to enter, Jumeirah Mosque is one that does, because they are a teaching exhibition as well. You’ll get to learn all about the beautiful religion of Islam and the importance of it in Arabian culture.

Taking a guided tour of the mosque costs 25 AED, about $7 USD. Once you enter, you’ll be taken to a separate area where you’ll be provided a modest piece of clothing called an abaya. This is to respect the religious environment of the mosque.

Your group will be assigned a tour guide who’ll take you through the mosque, showcasing the beautiful architectural work while also teaching you about Islam along the way. You’ll even get the opportunity to pray if you’re up for it!

Take a lunch break at the Nikki Beach Restaurant & Club.

You deserve to sit back and relax after a long morning of exploring the Jumeirah Mosque. After all, we wouldn’t want you to come to Dubai and not experience the beach club life — it’s an essential part of Dubai life.

The Nikki Beach Restaurant & Club is a Mediterranean-style beachfront dining experience. It is about a 6-minute drive from the Jumeirah Mosque and is the perfect next stop on your Dubai itinerary.

I’ve been here a couple of times and besides the amazing food, what really attracts me to this place is the fact that it has some really pretty Instagrammable spots where you can take some awesome photos!

While waiting for your food to be served, you can take in the breathtaking views of the Persian Gulf and the World Islands, a series of manmade islands in the middle of the water.

Nikki Beach gives you the option of either dining indoors or outdoors. If you’re up for a tan under the sun, the outdoors is perfect!

However, if you’re looking for a more intimate experience, or you just want to escape the Dubai heat, you’ll love the vibes of the indoors.

The menu offers a mixture of several Mediterranean cuisines with a key focus on seafood, all with an Arabic twist. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it!

Explore the Burj Khalifa — the tallest building in the world!

dubai's burj khalifa building from the outside with fountain pool at its base

I hope you didn’t actually think we’d make an itinerary for Dubai and leave out the tallest building in the world!

The Burj Khalifa is just one of those places that you just have to visit if you come to Dubai, or else it’s like you haven’t really been to Dubai at all.

So after you’re done relaxing at Nikki Beach, it’s time to continue the sightseeing on your Dubai trip with the Burj Khalifa next on your list!

The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world! It is a 20-minute drive from Nikki Beach and is located right inside Dubai Mall.

You can (and should) experience Burj Khalifa in two ways: from the inside and from the outside.

Book your tickets to the 124th & 125th floors online here!

the view from the burj khalifa looking over the cityscape of dubai

There’s also a premium option that includes skip-the-line privileges as well as bringing you up to the 148th floor, the tallest part of the observation deck. This comes at a price, though — you have to pay around $150 USD for this skip-the-line ticket!

I find this to be really pricy, but honestly, if you can afford it, it’s so worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you’ll only be in Dubai once, you might as well go all the way up!

Book your skip the line tickets to the 124th, 125th & 148th floors here!

From the outside, you can truly marvel at its insane height: 830 meters or 2,722 feet — nearly a thousand feet taller than One World Trade Center, the tallest observation deck in New York City!

The Burj Khalifa from the outside is an entirely different experience. It is surrounded by a body of water where you’ll find the Dubai Fountain dancing to music. Watching the Dubai Fountain Show is a must-do, day or night!

The view itself from outside is breathtaking and makes for some really great picturesque moments. You can also explore the Dubai Mall while you’re at it!

The Dubai Mall is wild — it has more than you could possibly imagine!

You can also buy a combination ticket that combines the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, located inside the Dubai Mall.

The Dubai Aquarium is considered one of the best in the world and is known for its cool underwater tunnel where you can watch sharks and rays swim and undulate overhead!

It’s yet another epic photo spot in Dubai.

Evening Option 1: Unleash your inner thrill-seeker on a Dubai desert safari.

dune bashing in the dubai desert area

If you like a bit of adrenaline, I can’t think of a better way to end a day in Dubai than experiencing the true beauty of the desert. It’s a Dubai bucket list must.

After all, Dubai isn’t all luxurious hotels, fancy restaurants, and breathtaking architecture. The raw desert experience comes with its own thrill and adventure!

For a complete guide, read this post about desert safaris in Dubai here!

If you’re coming from Dubai, the best way is via an organized tour to the stunning red dunes of the Lahbab Desert. You could do a full-day tour, but I think an evening tour is a better option if you only have two days in Dubai.

An evening desert safari will include activities such as dune bashing, a camel ride, and exploring some of the camp activities before enjoying an Emirati BBQ feast and returning to Dubai.

The Lehbab Desert is located on outskirts of Dubai, about 40 minutes form downtown Dubai, and it’s a popular place for tourists and locals alike!

I used to come here every weekend to quad bike through the desert. Every now and then if I’m feeling brave, I’ll take a ride on a camel as well. You can’t go to the Lahbab desert and not ride on a camel at least once!

Of course, you’ve also got to try dune bashing. It’s not for the faint of heart but I definitely recommend everyone try it at least once.

The ride will take you to the middle of the desert where there’s a Bedouin-style desert camp set up with food, music, and all sorts of activities to enjoy like sandboarding, shisha, belly dancing, and henna.

Book your desert safari tour here!

Evening Option 2: Indulge in luxury at the Ristorante L’Olivo Al Mahara.

Desert adventures aren’t everyone’s vibe. Some people prefer a bit of luxury when planning a Dubai weekend trip.

And what better way to maximize luxury than by having a fine dining experience at the Burj Al Arab?

The Ristorante L’Olivo Al Mahara is a fine dining experience in the Burj Al Arab. It is one of the few Michelin-star restaurants in the UAE!

It is owned by Chef Andrea Migliaccio, who carries two Michelin stars. The restaurant is famous for its Italian cuisine and intimate ambiance.

The vibes in this restaurant are perfect and you’ll definitely get the luxurious experience you paid for.

You’ll feel like you’re eating underwater, with the floor-to-ceiling aquarium featured prominently in the dining room! It’s definitely one of the most romantic places in Dubai to have dinner.

The restaurant specializes in contemporary seafood dishes, prepared with an Italian twist.

Since the restaurant is located in the Burj Al Arab, you’ll be escorted there through a private taxi pick up service, as you aren’t allowed to bring your own car upfront.

The Burj Al Arab is a luxurious hotel that is also home to several fine dining restaurants. Restaurants in this building are all aquatic-themed with a touch of gold accents for the ambiance!

2 Day Dubai Itinerary: Day Two

Have your breakfast on a yacht around the Dubai Marina.

a yacht going past the dubai coastline

This day is all about exploring the hidden gems of Dubai so you need all the energy you can get. Good thing we’re going to start your day with an epic breakfast on a yacht tour of the Dubai Marina!

I know, what better way to start the second day of your Dubai itinerary than having breakfast on a yacht? This takes breakfast in bed and uplevels it!

Best of all, this experience isn’t actually very expensive since it’s a shared yacht, so you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how affordably this fits into your budget.

This tour comes with either a breakfast if you book it early morning or a BBQ if you book it for an evening getaway. I definitely preferred taking this tour in the morning as you get a much better view of the breathtaking sights around you!

The yacht will take you across quite a large span of the Dubai Marina.

This will give you a great view of several top landmarks of Dubai like the Burj Khalifa, the Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach, the Burj al Arab, and more, all while you watch locals and tourists alike enjoy water sports in Dubai doing fun things like kitesurfing and parasailing!

I really liked how the yacht came with a tour guide — he was pretty funny and would tell us about the landmarks in a really entertaining way!

Even though I’ve lived in Dubai for several years, I would take the tour again just for the entertainment.

The food was excellently prepared as well — honestly, the food was just as good as the view!

Book your breakfast cruise on a yacht here!

Walk through the Dubai Miracle Garden.

heart shaped arches with flowers at the dubai miracle garden

If you’ve reached this far and you’re actually following this Dubai itinerary, you’re one lucky traveler.

This next spot I’m going to be recommending is often skipped over. It’s a local hidden gem that mostly locals would recommend. You wouldn’t want to miss it for the world!

The Dubai Miracle Garden is located a bit on the outskirts of the main city. It is a 20-minute drive from the Dubai Marina.

You could also get a bus from the Mall of the Emirates to take you directly to the Miracle Garden. (This mall is where you’ll find the legendary Ski Dubai indoor ski slopes!)

This is a garden that is filled with floral arrangements that make for a great background in pictures — it’s basically Instagram heaven. It is probably one of the most aesthetically beautiful places in the city!

Some arrangements like the Airbus A380 Aircraft even hold Guinness World Records!

Don’t leave so soon! This garden has so much more to offer. It hosts live shows every day which are entertaining for all ages.

This garden also hosts the Dubai Butterfly Garden, which is home to several different beautiful species of butterflies.

It is an indoor garden and you even get to interact with the butterflies! The connection you form with some of them is heart-melting!

Do the shawarma challenge.

At this point, you’re probably exhausted and ready for a break!

Checking out the entire Dubai Miracle Garden is quite a long walk and you definitely need to get more food into your system if you want to be able to finish this weekend in Dubai itinerary.

We’re going to take you to an authentic Arabic restaurant for a challenge you’ll never forget!

The Sultan Al Arab Restaurant is located in the heart of Dubai and is a 15-minute drive from the Dubai Miracle Garden.

This restaurant first gained popularity earlier this year after coming out with a shawarma challenge!

In this challenge, you’re presented with a 20-inch “Sultan” shawarma. They claim that this is the longest shawarma in Dubai. It’s probably true since I haven’t found one this long anywhere else!

Your goal is to finish this shawarma in one sitting. If you complete the challenge successfully, you win a free dessert.

Even if you’re not one for challenges, I still really recommend trying out the shawarma, since it’s actually really good!

It’s filled with chicken, some salad, and shawarma sauce. You can get it for 18 AED, which is equivalent to just about $5 USD.

If you’re like me, you’ll at least get it for the pictures!

Stroll through the old quarter of Dubai.

the old quarter of dubai on a quiet street

Dubai isn’t all just tall luxurious skyscrapers, theme parks, and sandy beaches. There’s still a part of Dubai that holds the authentic traditional Arabic culture!

This is the side of Dubai that isn’t seen by many tourists. Old Dubai is a bit of a hidden gem, known only to the locals and a select few special people — now including you!

The old quarter of Dubai is located in Bur Dubai. This is a 20-minute drive from the Sultan Al Arab Restaurant.

This place is famous for its several souks and markets located next to each other, including the gold souk, the spice souk, and more, as well as street food options.

This is where you should come to buy authentic souvenirs and hand-made items to remind you of your trip to Dubai!

This part of Dubai is where you’d find traditional olden-style structures, unlike the tall luxurious buildings you’re used to seeing in the main city area.

I often visit Old Dubai just for the Dubai Creek. This is a small body of water running through the city, where you can find quite a few traditional boats (dhows) that will take you on a quick boat tour of the area.

The best time to take a boat ride is when the sun is just about to set — this makes the water sparkle!

Feast while revolving around a view.

If you’ve managed to walk through the old quarter of Dubai and gathered a few souvenirs along the way, chances are your legs are killing you and you’re in desperate need of some downtime.

For the last meal of your trip, we’re taking you to a restaurant with a unique experience!

Al Dawaar Revolving Restaurant is located near the beachfront and is about a 15-minute drive from Dubai’s Old Quarter.

This restaurant is pretty unique as your seating will be revolving 360 degrees around the restaurant, giving you a full view of the city surrounding you — one of the best views of Dubai around!

Since this restaurant is located on a beachfront, you get a stunning view of the ocean on one side and the city side on the other. The seating revolves really slowly so you don’t have to worry about feeling sick or feeling unstable.

The restaurant is located on the rooftop floor of the Hyatt Regency Dubai. It provides a wide selection of Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern cuisine. I highly recommend this place, especially for couples since the ambiance is really intimate and romantic.

Visit the Global Village, the O.G. Expo Center.

There’s no better way to bring an end to your two-day trip to Dubai than a visit to the Global Village!

This was the original Expo Center of Dubai before the current Expo center came into existence. If you’re looking for a more authentic experience, I recommend visiting the Global Village instead of the Expo Center.

The Global Village is located a bit on the outskirts of Dubai. It is a 30-minute drive from the revolving restaurant.

I used to come here all the time growing up and it used to be jam-packed with people no matter what time you visit.

Now, the crowd has sadly shifted to the Expo Center, leaving this place only to those who truly value it. You’ll find a structure for each of the popular countries of the world in the Global Village!

Each structure holds popular items and souvenirs from those specific countries. This is another great place to get souvenirs of your Dubai trip.

You’ve probably seen those popular videos of an ice cream guy repeatedly tricking people by making them think they’re getting ice cream, but they aren’t really.

Well, this is where that entire fiasco took place!

I would pop by the global village just for the experience of getting fooled by Turkish ice cream guys!

If You’re Visiting Dubai in Summer…

waterpark in dubai on a hot summery weather day

This Dubai itinerary assumes that you’re visiting Dubai in the more pleasant times of the year, between November and March ideally.

If you’re visiting in the summer, you may find it too hot to do some of the things on this itinerary and you may want to swap out some of the activities, such as a desert safari, for things that are more appropriate for the heat.

A few suggestions would be to check out one of Dubai’s famous water parks, such as the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark. You could also buy a day pass to Jumeirah Beach Residence or one of the other beach clubs.

You could also spend the day enjoying some water sports offered around Dubai, ranging from jet skiing to snorkeling to scuba diving.

If you’re not a big fan of water or water sports and you want to stay indoors, you can try indoor skiing at Ski Dubai at the Mall of the Emirates or checking out one of the other shopping malls in Dubai.
